What to do in Darwin?

Q: I live in adelaide and as you know it has been very cold. My and my family are going to Darwin for a week. (There are four of us and are all adult prices) We have a small budget. What are some things to do for all the family. We want to go swimming. My sister is 16 (few weeks ago) and i am 12 (13 in september) Are there any good places to see sea creatures. And we want to swim and shop.

A: There is heaps to do around Darwin, some of the more budget price places are around if you know what you are looking for. Swimming, there will be a pool in whatever hotel you stay at, swim there. In the sea there is box jelly fish, and if they don't get you gotta watch out for the salt water crocodiles. But if you still really really want to go swimming try nightcliff, or mindal beach (where the sunset markets are held). They have life saving clubs. Place to see, would be the sunset markets a must, go early because they get very crowed around sunset. They are on every Thurday night 16:00~21:00, or Sunday 17:00 ~ 20:00. Thursday is the main day. Doctors Gully (Aqua scence) you can feed fish by hand here. It is really good, they swim right up take the bread out of your hand. Cost $5, per person. Just check to make sure the tide is right before hand, they list it on web site. National Parks, the main ones are Kakadu, or Litchfield. Kakadu is more widly know as it is bigger than some countries. Litchfield also has much of the same things in it, but it is much closer, you can take day tours to either park, or drive out there yourself. Litchfield more water falls, and teminte mounds, Kakadu is more about the history of aborignal people, and crocodiles. Litchfield is free to get into, Kakadu the aborignal people charge you an entree fee of around $30 per person. Crocodile parks, you have to go to at least one. Either the jumping crocodile cruise or Crocodylus park. Crocodylus is around 20 minutes out of Darwin, on McMillans road. The cruises are at Adeliade river about an hour and half out of Darwin. Both cost around $30 each per person. Jumping cruise its a boat rise and they get croco's to jump out of the water to grab at meat, sometimes they get heaps to jump sometimes they do not. But they do feed the birds of pray as well. Crocodylus they are farming them. They fill you in on all aspects of croc's and answer any questions. They also jump crocodiles, as they are farmed they always get some to jump. They also let you feed them yourself if you want to and at the end of the tour you are able to hold a baby one if you wish to. Sea animals the best place to go is down on the Stokes whalf, there is a marine museam where they look at coral and how it is grown, fish etc. My mum and niece, and one of my friends went and they said it was fantastic. I think it was around $25 per person. Other wise have a look at this web site it list nearly all the attractions in and around Darwin. www.travelnt.com.au I hope this helps, have a good trip.
