My daughter is looking into living in Perth?

Q: My daughter (from UK) is looking into emmigrating to Perth. Her husband can get transferred from his work on an oil rig to one out there. They are 27 and 28 with three kids. What is the best area to live in within a 30 mile radius of Perth. Best for schooling, lifestyle, friendliness and near the sea. She also wants to know what is the area with the cheapest houses to buy. She wants to give her kids a better lifestyle as UK is going downhill fast. What are the ups of living in or near Perth? What is the crime rate like? And can you tell me the best online site to get the most information about emmigrating to Aussie. She has sat an online test and passed for a settlement visa. A: Perth is huge. It doesn't have a population like London or New York, but it has a vast area because for many years people had quarter acre blocks with single houses. Now, Perth is changing rapidly. Apartment and inner city living are taking over. Western Australia has an economy other places would die for. Accommodation is at a premium here and buying a family home will in fact cost upwards of $400,000, if you can get one. I would be pleased to help in any way I can because moving from the UK to here is a daunting task. It's not just a matter of nipping over to Heathrow and jetting off to southern climes. The whole move is a big one. It will take about 18 hours to fly to Perth and that's with a stop to refuel on the way at Dubai, Singapore or Kuala Lumpur, depending on the airline.
