Q: I am thinking about moving to Perth next year. I would like a nice city with a university that I could attend, what would be a nice suberb to live in thats quiet and slightly rural, yet close enough to a university. Also my partner has experience in the forestry industry and the meat works industry - where would be a good place for him to work? Preferably in the same city as a university I could attend.

A: We have quite a few universities in Perth, so it will really depend on what you want to study. The main universities are ECU (Joondalup and Mt Lawley campuses), Curtin (Bentley area), Murdoch Uni (located in Murdoch) and UWA (located in Crawley). Each Uni specialises in something different, so this may affect where you want to live. I wouldn't call any of these area's rural though. If you decide to go to Murdoch Uni, there are a few surrounding suburbs (we don't call them cities) that are not as built up as the city, so may be closer to what you are looking for. I believe that Watsonia may be a good place for your partner to start looking for a job, as they are usually looking to hire. http://www.georgewestonfoods.com.au/brands/watsonia.htm Also, have a look at www.realestate.com.au and www.reiwa.com.au for area's surrounding the universities and you may find a suburb you like.
