Q: Hey everyone... I really wanna move out of home.. Im 19 and have a full time job but it doesnt pay much.. was thinking of getting a weekend job too.. Can anyone tell me how much they pay to live? like give me your budget so i can get an idea for mine...??? From Australia preferrably please....
A: I think it would be a good idea for you to ask your parents how much a month they spend on the phone/internet and how much their electricity bills are. That will at least give you an idea of that factor. You should head to a real estate and look at some rental properties just to get an idea of how much you can expect to be paying per week. If its too expensive then you could look into getting a flat mate. Perhaps a cousin, friend, brother/sister... Also, you might need to check out wether you pay for water. Most rental properties have this included. Although if you go over the set amount you have to pay for any extra (doubt youd do that though). Food is pretty expensive. Although if youre only feeding yourself then it wont be too costly for you. You should get aside at least $200-$300 per week for food. Also, it generelly costs more for food when you first move in coz you have to buy all the staples like sauces, salt and pepper etc. Also, you need to think about furniture. Do you have any? Can you get some cheap or free from family or friends? If not then places like fantastic furniture are great, esp for when you first move out. Garage sales are also an excellent idea. Good luck!
