A: Australia is very short of doctors and is keen to recruit suitably qualified medical practitioners from overseas. Everything you need to know and do is on the Australian Government Immigration and Citizenship website and there is a special section on there dedicated to informing doctors from overseas as to the requirements and opportunities. Go to:- http://www.immi.gov.au/skilled/medical-practitioners/index.htm You must be able to be registered in Australia, pass the points test (on the same website) and meet English proficiency, health and character requirements. If you are prepared to work in a regional area, you will be even more welcome. Run through the points test first, ensure that you meet the other requirements and then apply. Australia will be very happy to have you come and work here.
