A year out in Australia two Irish gals and we dont have a plan!!! wana help us with one??? ;o) plez x?

Q: moving to Australia in 6wks yes i have Visa insurance vaccinations all got my rucksack sitting here looking at me ;o) we have accomodation for 2nite in sydney thats were the plan ends!!! we hope to get a job in the first few wks after arriving we'll work at anything doesnt have to be related to our college MA's.as were just outa college fund low 9,000 OZ dollers all i got! we would like to be in sydney 4 Xmas and start traveling up the east coast in january but should we hang around sydney or move dwn to melbourne for the 1st few months? is it easy to get jobs? meet new friends? rent accomodation etc...appreciate ur help x

A: I would hang around Sydney for the first few months as the weather and beaches are much nicer . Plenty of time for Melbourne Later. You should not have too much trouble getting bar work as Christmas is a busy time so lots of places like to put on casual staff at this time. Sydneysiders are very friendly and they love Irish people. There are plenty of Irish pubs around so you shouldn't be too lonely . I would check out Backpackers type accommodation as that should be the cheapest. Also check out the hostel in the Southern suburb of Cronulla (1/2 an hour from the city) I have heard that it is good
