Q: my wife and i have just got married a couple of days ago, and we're waiting to go back to the birth and death and marrige office to take the standard marriage certificate, what kind of documents we will have to bring with us?
A: http://www.bdm.nsw.gov.au/marriages/marriages.htm This should tell you what you need to know, if it doesn't I'd call the registry and check, just so you don't waste any time. Usually you have to show your ID and do your paperwork with the celebrant or minister BEFORE the ceremony though, and then it is their responsibility to send the stuff into the registry the week after the ceremony. You have to give one month and one day's notice to get married, when you complete a form called a Notice of Intended Marriage. You show your ID and so on at this point. The registry should already have all of your details on file.
